OVERVIEW

Heavy machinery generally falls into one of three areas: either it moves on wheels, tracks or rollers. To operate any of these you require the right licence for the weight of the vehicle and the required endorsement.   

People credited with this unit standard are able to: Describe a special-type wheels/tracks/roller vehicles and the legal requirements relating to driving the vehicle on a road; describe driving procedures and general considerations for driving a special-type tracked vehicle safely on a road; and demonstrate procedures for driving a special-type tracked vehicle safely and legally on a road.  

COURSE AIM

This course meets the required unit outcomes as stated below.
-Describe a special-type wheels/tracks/roller vehicle and the legal requirements relating to driving the vehicle on a road. 
-Describe driving procedures and general considerations for driving a special-type wheels/tracks/roller vehicle safely on a road. 
-Demonstrate procedures for driving a special-type wheels/tracks/roller vehicle safely and legally on a road.  
The learning outcomes of the training provide an understanding of the responsibilities, compliance and company processes required for operation. The course covers maintenance, pre-use checks, operational requirements and skills.
